As most individuals know only too well, wrinkles on the face are lines that develop as one ages. They are often due a mix of many aspects, which might include common facial movements which might be repeated for years, dryness, smoking, overuse of astringents, overzealous scrubbing of the face, and, most significantly, unprotected overexposure to the sun.

Oxidative (free radical) damage causes the formation of insoluble collagen, which is inelastic and unable to soak up water well, and doesn’t plump up. With the lack of moisture, lines and wrinkles form. We don’t often find these changes cosmetically pleasing.

Fortunately, there are various conventional and alternative routes to stop and treat wrinkling of the skin.

Supplements

The next oral supplements are really helpful to guard against harmful oxidation and to slow the wrinkling process:

A high-potency multivitamin and mineral complex. Take this each day.

Beta-carotene complex. Take 50,000 international units a day.  

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids. Take 500 to 1,000 milligrams 3 times a day

Vitamin E. Take 400 to 800 international units a day Selenium. Take 100 to 200 micrograms a day. Consuming foods and supplements wealthy in vitamins A, C, and E is very important, but topical application of creams containing forms of those vitamins, plus the natural hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) may be far more effective. For instance, using a 10-percent topical vitamin-C product lets you get roughly thirty times the extent of vitamin C to the highest layer of wrinkled skin as compared with ingesting megadoses of vitamin C. The next topical antioxidant vitamin and complement creams are excellent for the treatment and prevention of wrinkles: 

Ten-percent vitamin-C lotion. Apply this each day. Watch out, as not all preparations of topical vitamin C are effective; the vitamin C should be converted to the L-ascorbic acid type of the vitamin. Cellex-C and C Scape Serum are two products which were shown to supply a marked decrease in the looks of wrinkles with regular use.  

Five-percent vitamin-E cream. Apply this each day  

Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) cream. Apply this each day. Studies have shown that this antioxidant can decrease the depth of facial wrinkles noticeably after only one month of each day use.  

DHEA cream. Apply this each day. 

Herbs for wrinkles

Most natural antiwrinkle creams work either as antioxidants that mop up damaging free radicals or as emollients that moisturize and soften the skin and reduce the looks of positive wrinkles.   

Topical preparations made out of fruit acids, or alpha-hydroxy acids, have been successfully used to fight positive wrinkling. Glycolic acid is one commonly used fruit acid.
